Generally speaking the following levels are the
different class levels that we offer for keyboard/music learning.
Please note, these levels act as a guide only. Variations do occur.
We, like you, want your child, (or you, if that be the case!)
in the right class that suits all needs…

Beyond Phase 6 we advocate individual or pairs

We can also run all ‘phases’ in an adult education
format…. come on! It will be fun!
Funkey Music Phases- all other instruments
Students will be grouped in similar age/ability levels:
Phase 1 (according to age group)
Phase 2 (according to age
group) etc, per instrument
Please note that it is the ‘phase’ or ‘level’ that
is important, not the age of the student. Therefore one could
be entering high school, and at the Phase 5 level on one instrument,
and begin learning another, starting perhaps at Phase 2, and accelerating
quickly…due to increased music literacy and experience.
Occasionally students need to be moved from one class to another
for various reasons- often acceleration, as above (which
we fully academically endorse), and/ or peer or friendship
issues.
Each student will be appropriately placed in the class
that
best suits their needs. Music exams- AMEB
We believe that exams are great for many
reasons- reward, accomplishment recognition, comparison, motivation,
etc.
To that end, we have tapered our program to dovetail with
the AMEB examination system. This is entirely optional,
and is not
for everyone.
Should your child/you, wish to participate in the AMEB
examination system please advise the office so adequate
measures can be
taken to enable that to occur.
Please also note that individual lessons will be necessary
to achieve this aim.
